| Physical Education is a very important part of childrens health. American children are amongst the highest in the world when it comes to obesity rates. A physical educator's job is to teach children how to make healthy choices, such as healthy foods and exercise often for cardiovascualr health. The key to making this impressing upon children is to educate in a way where they are having fun and enjoying an experience. Fun will be the main focus of our mission. | 
| Announcements | Healthy Choices Healthy choices are important to stay in shape or get in shape. To many people in America go to fast food restaurants on a normal basis. This is extremely unhealthy because of all the calories and trans fats that are in those foods. We need to start watching what we eat and incorporate organic foods into our diets. | Shaping Childrens Minds If a teacher or a coach has the opportunity to influence a child at young age, the more likely that child will maintain a level of good health throught their maturation years. It sets a life style for them and it becomes part of a routine, that is ingrained into the person they will become later in life | Making a Lesson Plan To all the teachers out there in the field of physical education, picking a fun lesson plan is crucial. If you are able to captivate the students attention during the activities they are more likely to usnderstand its purpose. During, the lesson a teacher may want to reiterate the goal of the lesson so the children can keep that in the back of their minds when they are playing. |
| Events | Knock-Out Basketball Tournament-Friday Dec. 18, 2009 On Friday December 18, 2009,students of all ages will be able to come to SUNY Cortland's Park Center. There they will meet our tournament staff, who will escort them to the gymnasium. During the tournament, students will have a great time with their friends and they will be able to compete for a chance to win prizes. | Motor Skill Obstacle Course Nutrition Seminar-Saturday Dec. 19, 2009 Set your calenders for Saturday December 19th everyone! SUNY Cortland will be hosting an obstacle course for elemantry school children. Students will have their motor skills tested while having fun. The event will be held at Lusk fieldhouse starting at 10a.m. Make sure you come out for the festivities. | Nutrition Seminar-Monday Dec. 21, 2009 On Monday December 21, 2009, children will be offered an opportunity to get professional nutritional advice from a certified nutritionist. This seminar is free, but limited to the first 50 students who arrive. The doors open at 4:30pm at the Lusk Fieldhouse at SUNY Cortland's Campus. Keep you body healthy! |
