| Announcements | Why Stay Fit During Summer? It's important to practice healthy eating and good exercise habits when they are young because it will help to prevent them from getting heart disease, diabetes and other chronic health conditions when they get older. Obesity is a huge concern in the United States and by teaching our students to become healthy early we can help get our country back in shape and good health. It's known that children should get at least one hour of physical fitness a day to help build up their muscles and bones. | How To Get Your Children To Eat Healthy You should work in fruits and vegetables into every meal and snack. About five servings a day of each. Make it easy for your children to pick healthy snacks by keeping fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, cheese and whole grain crackers around the house. Serve your family lean meats and good proteins like eggs, fish, nuts and beans. Eat whole grain breads and cereals to get fiber intake. Lastly limit fast food, low nutritional snacks, fat intake and sugary drinks. | How Can Parents Help Thier Children Stay Fit? Parents can set a limit on how much TV, computer, and videogame time a child gets a day. Parents should act enthusiastically toward being active. The children need good role models if your not active yourself they wont want to be active either. Plan fun outdoor activities that your family can do to spend time with each other and to stay active too. These activities can be canoeing, kayaking, hiking, walking, jogging, jump roping, hopscotch, bowling, dancing, rollerblading and even back yard games. |
